All access to Mazda Stadium is explained! On foot / by bus / by car

マツダスタジアム全景アイキャッチ

In the world of professional baseball, Shohei Ohtani of the big league Angels is currently showing tremendous performance in pitching and hitting, and I am really enjoying it, but no, Japanese professional baseball is also interesting!

When I was a child, the Hiroshima Carp was a weak team, called “a liability in the Central League” or “always in the B class,” etc. But now, half of the stadiums everywhere are dyed red, and I am somewhat thrilled that the Carp has really become a national team and that the number of fans has increased.

The home ground of the Hiroshima Carp is the Mazda Stadium (official name MAZDA Zoom-Zoom Stadium Hiroshima), located in Minami Kanieya, Minami-ku, Hiroshima City.

This article summarizes the various ways to get to Mazda Stadium from various locations in the city.

The most common way to get there is to take public transportation to JR Hiroshima Station and walk from the South Exit. However, there are of course people who cannot walk for long periods of time or who prefer to drive, and there may be cases where you want to go directly from a location other than JR Hiroshima Station.

With this in mind, we will provide as much detail as possible on how to get to Mazda Stadium by walking, by bus, and by car. Let’s go to the stadium by the route that suits you best and cheer together!

How to get to Mazda Stadium on foot

The most common way to get to Mazda Stadium is to walk from JR Hiroshima Station or other stations.

Walking from the South Exit of JR Hiroshima Station

Take the South Exit of JR Hiroshima Station and walk to the left. With the Tsutaya Denki building on your right, follow the road just beside the JR Sanyo Main Line.

This is commonly called “Carp Road,” and you will see signs with the players, stores selling Carp goods, ramen shops, Lawson, and various other stores.

Although it is a narrow street, it is crowded with Carp fans on days when there is a game.

It is a straight road, and I don’t think you will get lost. The official Hiroshima Carp website says it is a 10-minute walk, but it may take a little longer.

I wrote this route in this article.

Extra Info.

There is a Lawson in the middle of this street. Usually Lawson’s key color is blue, but here it is specially designed with the Hiroshima Carp’s red as its main color. It is also called “Red Lawson,” which may be interesting for those who come from other prefectures.

Walking from the Matobacho stop of the Hiroden City Tram

It may not seem like much, but you can also reach Mazda Stadium in a little over 10 minutes from the Matobacho stop on the Hiroshima Electric Railway’s city tram (streetcar). (See map).

If you are in the area near the Matobacho stop and are going to visit Mazda Stadium, it would be faster to take this route directly to the stadium than to go to Hiroshima Station.

How to get to Mazda Stadium by bus

The closest bus stop to Mazda Stadium is “Mazda Stadium-mae “, which is about 350 meters to the front gate, or about a 4-minute walk, which is much easier than walking from Hiroshima Station.

Below are written directions for getting to the stadium by bus from three locations: Hiroshima Bus Center (Kamiyacho), Hiroshima Station, and Ujina.

How to get to Mazda Stadium by cab

Cab from Hiroshima Station to Mazda Stadium

Mazda Stadium is too close to Hiroshima Station to be reached by cab, but of course that is also true.

However…currently (as of June 2023) the south exit of JR Hiroshima Station is in the midst of a major urban development project and is undergoing major changes.

Although the Mazda Stadium is usually accessed from the South Exit of JR Hiroshima Station, the cab stand at the South Exit is temporary, located far away from the stadium, and only two cabs can reach the stadium.

The cab stand at the North Exit is easier to find and is recommended, although it is a roundabout way.

Cab Stand at North Exit of JR Hiroshima Station

This picture shows the cab stand at the North Exit of JR Hiroshima Station. Take the stairs from the free passageway down to the first floor of the North Exit, and you will see a wide roundabout in front of the entrance.

The cab stand is located in front of the roundabout. (In front of Nippon Travel Agency)
