Many visitors to Hiroshima City want to walk around Kamiyacho, Hondori, and Hacchobori in the center of the city, but are concerned about their baggage.
For those people, we have checked all the coin-operated lockers in this area on foot, and will introduce how to get there (access) and how many lockers are available, as well as photos of them.

Most of the coin lockers in this area are located in the underground shopping center and are a little difficult to find, but we will try to make them as easy to find as possible, including entrances and exits.
This article is current as of August 2023. Please note that the information in this article is current as of August 2023 and may be subject to change.
Overall map of the coin-operated lockers mentioned in this article
First, please take a look at the overall map I have drawn. (Next, an enlarged version will be posted.)

There is a large train street running horizontally east-west, and two large streets intersecting it. The intersection on the left is the Kamiyacho intersection, and the intersection on the right is the Hatchobori intersection. This article will introduce coin-operated lockers around these two intersections.
The overall map is too small to see on a smartphone. Please see the two separate ones on the left and right.

Near the Kamiyacho intersection, there are department stores and large commercial facilities, and an underground shopping mall called “Kamiyacho Shaleo” stretches from east to west, north to south. (The pink area in the map)
Most of the coin lockers in this area are located in this chalet and can be accessed from the respective entrances.
They are also located in the Hiroshima PARCO main and new buildings, a short distance down Chuo-dori from the Hatchobori intersection, which we will also introduce to you.
Click/tap each item in the table of contents to jump to each one.
You can also return to this map by clicking on the “Back to the map” button.
The sizes and feesareas follows.
- Small] Approx. 35 cm (H) x 35 cm (W) x 63 cm (D) 300 yen
- Medium] Approx. 60 cm (H) x 35 cm (W) x 63 cm (D): 500 yen
- Large】High:90cm x Width35cm x Depth63cm
- Extra-large】High:120cm x W32cm x D63cm, about 1,000 yen
The following is a list of the basic sizes: 【Small】,【Medium】,【Large】, and so on.
(The data is current as of August 2023. Please note that the location and number may change in the future.)
I will write the following in the order in which they are placed on this map.
Directions to 13 coin locker locations in central Hiroshima (Kamiyacho area)
1 in the figure] Near the Kamiyacho Nishi stop (just after getting off at the Kamiyacho Shaleo Nishi 7 entrance)
The West 7 Entrance is located diagonally across from the Orizuru Tower and into the Hiroshima Gate Park (former site of the Hiroshima Municipal Baseball Stadium), where you can get off at the Kamiyacho Chalet underground shopping center. Coin-operated lockers are located just off the entrance.
This location is close to the Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park, so it is very convenient for those going there.
The West 7 entrance has a roof like this, so you can recognize it from a distance. The entrance is on the back side from the train street.

Take the escalator to the basement.

Once you exit the escalator and enter the door, the coin lockers are located around to the right.

Walking down Shaleo West Street toward the central plaza, there are “West 1” and “West 2” entrances opposite each other. It is located in the middle of these two exits, or rather in the gap between the passageways.
There are not many coin-operated lockers, but the fact that they are hard to notice may make them a good spot. If you enter from the outside, “Nishi 1” is in front of Hiroshima Sogo, and “Nishi 2” is in front of EDION.

[Diagram 3] Pasera (B1F by the entrance to the parking lot)
Pasela is a large commercial facility located at the Kamiyacho intersection, a little north of Sogo Hiroshima Store. It is located on the B1F here.
There are several ways to get down to the B1F, but to get to the coin lockers, use the escalator at the back of the front.

Go straight through the square in the front toward the back. You will see a large clock on the wall. After passing the wall with the clock, you will see a floor guide sign on the right and an escalator behind it. This will take you down.

This is a shot taken from the escalator down. The entrance to the parking lot is in front of the building, behind a large pillar. There are coin lockers on the left side of the entrance. (circled by a square)

【Chart 4】 Astram Line Kencho-mae Station (B1F)
Astram Line trains connect Kenchomae Station in Asaminami Ward and Hondori Station in Naka Ward, Hiroshima City, with Kenchomae and Hondori Stations being underground.
Across the crosswalk on the main street from the Pasela mentioned earlier, there is an entrance/exit “East 1” that leads down to Kenchomae Station on the Astram Line. Coin lockers are located below this entrance, but it is easier to find by using the elevator.

Across from the photo above is the elevator. This takes you down to the basement.

When you go down to the basement and the door opens, this is already in front of you!

If you walk from the stairs, you will go around in a circle, but you can get to the coin lockers like this.

[Figure 5 Figure 6] Hiroshima Bus Center (Aqua Hiroshima Center-gai 3F)
The Hiroshima Bus Center is located on the third floor of Aqua Hiroshima Center-gai, adjacent to the Sogo Hiroshima Store on the northwest corner of the Kamiyacho intersection.
The Hiroshima Bus Center has one location at the back of the waiting floor and one location next to the elevators on the arrival floor.
5 in the figure [at the back of the waiting floor at the bus stop].
This photo was taken from in front of Sogo Hiroshima Store, looking north.
Shortly after turning the corner of Sogo, there are escalators and stairs going up to the bus center.

The bus stop is on the third floor and is reached by a direct escalator.

This is what it looks like when you arrive at the third floor by escalator. There are stores and waiting areas on both sides of the aisle, and at the end of the aisle on the right is the bus stop. Go straight down the aisle to the back.

Coin-operated lockersare located at theend ofthiscorridor, between the bus ticket booth and the drugstore.

Partially visible, turn left and you will see many coin-operated lockers lined up.

Like this. This is the place where the most number of them are grouped together in this presentation. With this many, I don’t think it is very likely that all of them will be blocked.

Type and number of lockers *Price per day | Large: 14 (700 yen) Medium: 57 (500 yen) Small: 96 lockers (400 yen) |

Figure 6 [Next to the elevator on the arrival platform].
This is the same Hiroshima Bus Center, but this one is located on the arrival platform.
There are only a few of them, and they seem to be placed quietly. It may be a good place to find a place.

You can get here by elevator and stairs from inside the Aqua Hiroshima Center Gai ( next to Sogo Hiroshima Store), but when you actually use the elevator, it is difficult to find the place to get on the elevator on the first floor, and the stairs are also difficult to find, so I will pass on them in this article.
However, it is not easy to find the place to take the elevator on the first floor, and the stairs are also difficult to find.
The entrance to the arrival platform is about 10 meters ahead of the entrance to the bus stop. It is around here.

The escalators are downhill only, so you have to walk up the stairs to the 3rd floor. (It’s a bit tougher than it sounds…)

This is what it looks like when you go up. To get to the coin lockers, take the passage on the left.

There is a coin locker about 15 meters straight ahead.

7] South of the south plaza of Chalet South Street (near the South 3-1 entrance/exit)
Entering South Street from Shaleo’s central plaza and walking a little further, you will find a slightly wider area. This is the “South Square” and beyond it is the area of Hondori Station on the Astram Line. Shortly after passing this South Square, there is a space for coin lockers and photo booths on the right (west side).
From the ground, you can get off at the “Minami 3-1” entrance in front of Suzuran Pharmacy.

On the west side of the Hondori tram stop, there is an entrance (West 1) where you can get off near the ticket office of the Astram Line Hondori Station. As soon as you get off here, coin lockers are available.

This is a picture of the staircase from below.

When you go down the stairs, you will find coin lockers immediately like this. (It will be near the ticket office.)

From Chaléo, straight ahead from Underground South Street leads directly to Hondori Station on the Astram Line.

9 of Fig. 10] Kamiyacho East (just off the underground shopping center Kamiyacho Shaleo East Exit 1 and East Exit 2)
On the ground level, it is near the “Kamiyacho Higashi” stop of the train, but there are two locations in this underground area.
Figure 9. Entrance to Shaleo East 1
The entrance to Shaleo East 1 is located on the north side of the Kamiyacho Higashi stop.

When you get off, you will see a passageway like this. Coin-operated lockers are located immediately after walking down the entrance to the left.

It is nice that this place accepts 1,000-yen bills and 500-yen coins.

Type and number of lockers *Price per day | Medium: 3 (500 yen) Small: 22 (400 yen) |

The area around these coin-operated lockers is spacious and has become a bit of a plaza. There is a piano on the street corner and some people were playing it.
Through this plaza, there is a connection to the south passageway, and you can easily go to the “East 2” coin locker located across from the East 1 coin locker.

Fig. 10 Entrance to Shaleo East 2
The Shaleo East 2 entrance is across the plaza from the East 1 entrance mentioned earlier.
There are also coin lockers near this East 2 entrance, about the same number as at East 1, but the main feature here is that there is a 1,000-yen bill exchange machine.

This is a view from the “East 2” exit on the ground. This is the south side of the Kamiyacho Higashi stop.

11】 Hiroshima Tranveil Building B1F (Chalet Chuo Exit)
On the southeast corner of the Kamiyacho intersection is the Hiroshima Tranvere Building with its distinctive curved wall.
Coin-operated lockers are located on the basement floor here.
To get there, use the “Kamiyacho Shaleo Chuo 4 Entrance”.
The entrance to Chuo 4 is located in front of the west side of the Hiroshima Tranveil Building. (If you are coming from the basement, it is across from the Chaleo Chuo Plaza and the Tourist Information Center.)
The following is an explanation of the route from the ground level.
First, go down to the basement from “Kamiyacho Chaleo Chuo 4”.

If you go down and turn right around, just behind the stairs, you will find coin lockers. The entrance to the Tranvale Building is also nearby.

There are not many large coin lockers in the chalets, but this place has large lockers.

Fig. 12 Fig. 13] Hiroshima PARCO (Main Building, New Building)
Although a little far from the previous locations, there are also coin lockers at “Hiroshima PARCO” facing Chuo-dori in the Hacchobori area. PARCO has two buildings: the “Shinkan” facing Chuo-dori Avenue and the “Honkan” facing Kinza-gai behind the Shinkan (with some floors connected). (ZERO GATE / ZERO GATE2 are also PARCO buildings…)
Coin lockers are located on the B1F of the main building near the parking lot entrance and on the 3rd floor of the new building.
Figure 12: Entrance to the parking lot on the B1F of the Main Building
PARCO’s parking lot is located in the basement of the Main Wing, but the entrance is between the Main Wing and the New Wing. It is accessible from both the main building and the new building, so please follow the directions inside the building to the underground parking lot.

This is the entrance to the underground parking garage. There is a row of coin lockers, and behind the door is the parking lot, and beyond that is the new building.

This coin locker is very inexpensive, but please note that it is “available only on the day of use”. Be sure to remove your luggage by 23:00 on the same day.

We were told that there are coin lockers at Club Quattro as well, but we could not confirm this because it was closed on the day we covered the event. I will try to visit this one again. (^^;
Extra Info / There are free coin lockers in the department store, but…
This is just an extra information…
Some department stores offer free coin lockers and free storage services. In the center of Hiroshima City, there are Sogo, Fukuya, Mitsukoshi, etc.
Many of them charge 100 yen when you put it in, but when you take it out, you get it back for free (free coin lockers? That’s great!). ), but…
But be careful! These lockers are provided for people who shop or dine at the department store as a temporary storage space while shopping or eating, and are completely different from regular coin-operated lockers.
The posted notices state that they are for in-store use only, that storage time is limited, and that they will be moved if not removed by closing time, or that they will be disposed of if they are perishable. Please read them carefully and, if you use them, be sure to follow the rules and use them appropriately.

Sogo Hiroshima Store (Main B1F)
Located next to the elevator on the B1F of the main building. Since it is located on the grocery floor, there are many refrigerated lockers for temporary storage of meat, fish, and perishable foods.
To get here, you can enter through the small entrance between the main building and the new building (South Mall).

The blue ones are for regular luggage, and the white ones are for fresh food only.

Hiroshima Mitsukoshi (1F, B1F)
Located on the 1st floor and the basement. To get here, the entrance 30 meters west is closer than the main entrance with the lion. When you enter from here, go straight to the back by the elevators.

This is the first floor. Large size.

Here on the basement floor, there is a row of small lockers.

Fukuya Hatchobori Main Store
The Fukuya Hatchobori Main Store does not currently have lockers, but does offer a free temporary storage service.
The closest entrance to the temporary storage is the one on the Kinza Street side.

The usage guide is also well written here. There is a person in charge here, so you can ask him or her.

Where you can leave your items at ecbo cloak
There is a luggage storage sharing service called ” ecbo cloak ” that started in 2017.
People who want to leave their luggage and stores that have space for luggage storage register with ecbo cloak, make reservations on the website, and then leave their luggage on the actual day of use.
There are some caveats, such as the fact that you can only leave your luggage during the business hours of the store or company, but the number of users seems to be increasing, especially in urban areas, as a complement to coin-operated lockers.
When we searched for this system in Hiroshima City, we found more than 10 stores and companies registered with the system, of which 8 were available in the Kamiyacho and Hondori areas.
To be honest, I have not used this service yet, so I cannot write down the details, but please refer to the following list of places where you can leave your luggage in this ecbo-cloakroom.
- Sogo Hiroshima Store 6-27 Motomachi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima
- organic cafe & kitchen cafe Saeki 1F, 1-4-25 Kamiyacho, Naka-ku, Hiroshima
- coworking space ShakeHands 302 Winnie’s Kamiyacho, 1-4-5 Kamiyacho, Naka-ku
- Nagasakiya 6-8 Hondori, Naka-ku
- Otemachi Central Parking Lot 1-5-29 Otemachi, Naka-ku
- Hiroshima International Hotel 3-13 Tatemachi, Naka-ku
- Port Cloud Urban Planning & Working Space 9F Hiroshima Chamber of Commerce & Industry Bldg. 5-44 Motomachi, Naka-ku
- Ruth, 2-4 Tatemachi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima Santac Building 4F
Membership registration is required to use this space.

Summary
The following is a summary of our research on coin-operated lockers in the center of Hiroshima City, around Kamiyacho and Hondori, and in some areas of Hacchobori.
They are convenient to use when you want to leave your baggage for shopping or just wandering around. Please enjoy Hiroshima City with a light baggage. (*^o^*)
