Among those who come to Hiroshima for sightseeing or business, eating Hiroshima okonomiyaki is probably one of the things they look forward to.
I was born and raised in Hiroshima, and of course I love okonomiyaki! And it is delicious, so I would like to encourage everyone to try it.

I went to eat it the other day! (^-^)
In Hiroshima City, there are many long-established, famous, and unique restaurants in the Hacchobori and Shintenchi areas in the city center, but I hear that many people prefer to eat at JR Hiroshima Station due to accessibility and time constraints. However, we hear that there are many people who prefer to eat at JR Hiroshima Station due to accessibility and time constraints.
For such people, there is the station building ekie & minamoa, directly connected to Hiroshima Station !
EKIE is located on the left in front of the JR Hiroshima Station after exiting the Shinkansen Exit (North Exit) or the central ticket gate, and MINAMOA is located on the right.
On the right side is minamoa.
- 4 stores on the 1st floor Ekie Dining
- 1 store at Ekie Bar on the 2nd floor
- 3 stores (not specialty stores) on the 1st floor Ekie Dining Terrace.
And at MINAMOA
- There are 2 stores on the 6th floor of MINAMOA.
It takes about 3 to 4 minutes to walk from the ticket gate to each restaurant. All of the restaurants are delicious and highly recommended!
In this article, we introduce each of these restaurants where you can eat okonomiyaki at Hiroshima Station, and we have also included some reviews (via Twitter).
Prices and other information are current as of June 10, 2025. Prices and other information are current as of June 10, 2025 and may be subject to change in the future.
*We will only mention “soba” to avoid confusion, but all of the restaurants should be able to serve “udon” as well.

Where is Ekie Dining located?
First, let me briefly explain the location of Ekie Dining and Ekie Dining Terrace.
As mentioned earlier, they are located on the first floor (Ekie Dining and Ekie Dining Terrace) and second floor (Ekie Bar) of the building called “ekie” directly connected to JR Hiroshima Station.
The way to get there from the Shinkansen exit ticket gates, the central ticket gate, or the free passageway is roughly as follows (1), (2), and (3).

- (1 in the figure) Exit through the Shinkansen Exit ticket gate, take the stairs on the right side of the front door, go down to the 1st floor, and turn right.
- (2) From the Central Exit, walk along the free passage to the north, take the stairs on your right, go down to the first floor, and turn right.
- (3) Exit the ticket gate at the Shinkansen Exit, enter EKIE from the entrance on the left, go straight and take the escalator down to the 1st floor.
If you don’t know how to get to EKIE Dining, please refer to another article I wrote about it in detail with many pictures.

Four okonomiyaki restaurants on the first floor of EKIE Dining (Reichan, Icchan, Micchan Sohonten, and Fukuchan)
I drew a rough floor plan of EKIE Dining and the EKIE Dining Terrace adjacent to it.
There are four okonomiyaki specialty restaurants on Hiroshima Buchima-dori in the ekie dining area (1), 2), 3), and 4) in the diagram.
EKIE DINING TERRACE is not a specialty restaurant, but there are 5 (5) and 6 (6) where you can enjoy okonomiyaki and seafood from the Seto Inland Sea.
And there is a place where you can experience grilling okonomiyaki yourself ⑦.
In this section, we will introduce details and reviews of the four EKIE Dining “Hiroshima Buchuma Dori” restaurants.

Hiroshima Buchuma Dori” is a section of EKIE Dining where you can enjoy okonomiyaki, soupless dandanmen, and other Hiroshima-like dishes.

Reichan (① in the figure)
TEL 082-286-2382
Home Page :https://www.o-reichan.jp/
Reichan” is one of the oldest Hiroshima okonomiyaki restaurants, having opened in 1957 as a food cart in Shintenchi, in the center of the city.
It is indeed delicious! But anyway, it is always crowded (>_<). Therefore, as I am not good at waiting in line, I have eaten there probably only three times.
In the evening, it gets especially crowded from about 5:00 p.m., so I recommend going there a little earlier, but before that time. Lunch starts at 11:00 a.m., so you may be able to get in without waiting too long if you go as soon as the restaurant opens.
According to word-of-mouth, the cheese-containing version has recently become popular. The “special” and “with oysters” are also good, although a little more expensive.

Icchan (② in the figure)
TEL 082-263-2338
Home Page :https://www.okonomiyaki-icchan.com/
Icchan” is a restaurant that specializes in simple okonomiyaki that focuses on the ingredients and allows the flavors of the ingredients to come alive. They choose the place of production for their cabbage according to the season. I love the green onions on top of the okonomiyaki. Compared to Reichan and Micchan Sohonten, it is relatively empty most of the time, which is also a good point for me!

Michan Sohonten (see figure (3))
TEL: 082-263-2217
The main restaurant is located in Kami-hacchobori, and is one of the oldest okonomiyaki restaurants in Hiroshima. It says “Mitsuo Ipubo’s store” on the brick. Mr. Mitsuo Ipubo passed away last year (2024), but he was very famous locally and devoted himself to okonomiyaki in Hiroshima.
I went to the one in Kami-Hacchobori on my way home, so I went there a lot (laugh).
There is often a line for this place as well, next to Reichan. I would recommend avoiding lunch and evening meal times if at all possible. (Or, be prepared to wait in line for about 30 minutes…).
By the way, the restaurant is different from “Micchan” in Shintenchi, which is famous in guidebooks, and the taste is also different. (It is a distant relative…).

Fuku-chan (4 in the figure)
Tel: 082-568-1208
Home Page :https://ya2c300.gorp.jp/
Fukuchan is also an okonomiyaki restaurant, but it is a comprehensive restaurant with a wide selection of grilled oysters, teppan-yaki, various drinks, and beer. The “Hiroshima Oyster Platter” is a popular menu item that includes a generous portion of large oysters from Hiroshima, served with salt or ponzu (Japanese citrus juice), okonomiyaki, and a glass of fresh beer.
You can enjoy okonomiyaki with plenty of steamed cabbage, plus local delicacies from Hiroshima.

There is also one restaurant on the 2nd floor of EKIE, Ajisai Dori (Denko-Ishibashi)
Although Hiroshima Buchuma-dori on the first floor is the most conspicuous, there is another okonomiyaki restaurant, Denko Sekka, on the second floor of ekie called “Ajisai-dori.
Personally, I often go here these days. This is because the restaurants on the first floor of “Hiroshima Buchiuma-dori” are inevitably crowded and there are lines of people waiting in line. When I am in the mood for okonomiyaki right away, I am not very good at waiting in line.
I feel that this restaurant is not well known by tourists, or it is relatively empty most of the time. However, depending on the time of day, there are often several people in line… (Still, it is better than the first floor.)

TEL 082-568-1751
Denko Sekka is an okonomiyaki restaurant and teppan-yaki restaurant with five locations in Hiroshima Prefecture and a total of 14 in Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Ehime, Fukuoka, etc., including Escondido in Hokkaido. The okonomiyaki is unique in that it is wrapped in a fluffy egg and baked softly with air.
Many teppan-yaki menus featuring fresh seafood from the Setouchi area are also popular.
It is a bit different from Reichan and Micchan Sohonten on the first floor, but I think it is just as good.
Business hours | 11:00-23:00 (last order 22:30) Closed: None |
Number of seats | Unknown number of seats |
Take-out | Available |
Main Menu and Prices | Denko Sekka” – meat, egg, tempura squid, shiso leaves, green onion, soba or udon 1,375 yen Love Letter” – meat, egg, squid, shrimp, oyster, green onion, fried egg, 1,925 yen Teppan Grilled Oysters [from Hiroshima] 7 grains 990 yen Grilled eel [from Setouchi] 920 yen, etc. |
Average budget | Lunch: from 1,000 yen, Dinner: from 2,000 yen |
Other | d-points and Rakuten points can be used. |
Three okonomiyaki restaurants at EKIE Dining Terrace
EKIE Dining Terrace is located at the right end of the figure, just outside the EKIE Dining building. Here, (3) Hiroshima Nofu and (6) Murakami Zoku are not okonomiyaki specialty restaurants, but they offer okonomiyaki.
If you can’t stand the long lines on Hiroshima Buchiuma-dori (laugh) and want to enjoy okonomiyaki and local food, you should take a look!

There is a smoking room around the corner from Fukuchan, and you will pass through to the dining terrace from the side of the smoking room. There is a sign like this.

Then go out the door. There are three restaurants lined up beyond that. Let me introduce each of them.

Hiroshima No Kaze (⑤ in the figure)

TEL 082-567-8360

Hiroshima No Kaze is a restaurant serving Hiroshima’s local cuisine, including not only orthodox Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, but also Hiroshima Tsukemen from Hiroshima Tsukemen Honpo Badan-ya, oysters on the shell from Hiroshima Prefecture, fried oysters, nabe (hot pot), and more. You will find something a little different to enjoy at this okonomiyaki specialty restaurant.

Koteju” is an okonomiyaki restaurant that has been a favorite in Hiroshima for over 10 years.
At this Minamoa branch, too, it is exciting to sit at the counter and watch the artisans skillfully grill the okonomiyaki right in front of you on the teppan. Many customers have commented that the service here is excellent.
The unique, fluffy okonomiyaki is made with Carp Sauce from Mouri Brewery in Hiroshima, and you can really enjoy the taste of Hiroshima okonomiyaki.
In addition, there is a full teppan-yaki menu that includes fresh oysters, sea urchin and spinach “uni horen” (sea urchin and spinach), and beef cornet, which has an irresistible crunchy texture.
The quality of the ingredients is highlighted in each dish, making both tourists and regular locals want to come back for more.
It is a perfect place for a family outing or a friendly get-together. Enjoy a taste of “Hiroshima style!

At the end
We have introduced seven okonomiyaki restaurants in the “ekie Dining & ekie Terrace”, the North Exit Station Building directly connected to the current JR Hiroshima Station, one restaurant where you can experience grilling okonomiyaki, and two restaurants in the South Exit Station Building “Minamore”.
All of them are, of course, very accessible, and you can eat at any of them in a short gap of time, such as when changing trains. We hope you enjoy this “Okonomiyaki at Hiroshima Station” experience.
However… all the restaurants are crowded during lunch and dinner hours. We recommend that you avoid those times if at all possible.
If all the restaurants are full, there is “Hiroshima Okonomiyaki Monogatari Ekimae Hiroba ” on the 6th floor of a building across the main street, 3 minutes outside the South Exit of JR Hiroshima Station, which contains 11 okonomiyaki restaurants. It is not directly connected to the station, but it is very convenient because it is right next to the station. I wrote about it in another article here.

This article is limited to okonomiyaki, but there are many other places in Ekie and Minamore that serve delicious food. Please try out the many other restaurants in Ekie and Minamoa!
I wrote about how to get to EKIE Dining from the ticket gate of JR Hiroshima Station in detail. Please take a look if you like.
