Miyajima/Itsukushima Shrine– tag –

Last May, Aquanet Hiroshima started a new Miyajima-guchi Miyajima route. A third company has entered the service, which had been operated by JR Nishinippon Miyajima Ferry and Miyajima Matsudai Kisen! So, I went to cover the event and boarded the ferry. Here is a summary of my experience and thoughts.

If you want to visit both Peace Memorial Park and Miyajima (Itsukushima Shrine) in one day, there are two ways: via Miyajima-guchi by city train or directly from Peace Park to Miyajima by high-speed boat. The latter "Hiroshima World Heritage Route" is summarized below, including a comparison with the train and its merits and demerits.

We have compiled a list of ways to get to Miyajima and Itsukushima Shrine from JR Hiroshima Station. Normally, the only choice is "Miyajimaguchi Station on the JR Sanyo Honsen Line, ferry", but we have included a total of five patterns, including other methods, and explained in detail how to get there with photos of the area, keeping in mind those who are new to Hiroshima.
